What is REIKI?
Reiki was developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the 1920s. It is a relaxing form of energy healing therapy that is applied through noninvasive, non-manipulative gentle touch. Reiki involves lightly laying of hands just above or on the clothed body, working over the front and back in a slow progression of hand positions. Reiki has no religious doctrine and is accepted by people from all backgrounds and belief systems.
Reiki helps to restore balance in the body through a process of channeling life force energy. These sessions are shorter in duration, and we focus on removing negative/lower vibrational energy such as stress, anxiety, anger, depression, frustration, hyperactivity, insomnia, and trauma to help restore balance in the body and throughout the chakras. This form of energy healing improves the energy flow throughout the physical body and energetic body, unclogging the blocked channels and clearing them of negative energy thus allowing positive energy to flow through once again.
Reiki is recommended for ALL life stages, from pregnancy to elder care.
WHAT DOES THE RESEARCH SAY ABOUT REIKI HEALING?
A 2014 review of previous studies on the effects of Reiki in combating pain and depression in a variety of adults, both older adults and those with terminal illness, found that reiki is almost always reported to show a positive effect.
A 2015 study showed that Reiki was effective in decreasing pain, fatigue, and anxiety in cancer patients. A 2016 study focused solely on women confirmed this.
A 2017 study goes so far as to say that Reiki can be considered more effective than a placebo and has broad potential as a complementary therapy in treating pain, anxiety, and depression.
In 2017, a pediatric study suggested that complementary methods of treatment such as Reiki may be beneficial to support traditional methods to manage pain and anxiety in children receiving palliative care.
In 2019, a large-scale, multi-site study of Reiki practitioners and patients across the United States concluded that even a single session of reiki could positively improve a patient’s physical and psychological health.
Most recently, a 2022 pediatric study showed hospitalized children aged 1-5 years old receiving palliative care, received two Reiki sessions per week for 3 weeks and reported signs of relaxation and quiet sleep post-Reiki.
What is Integrated Energy Therapy ?
Integrated Energy Therapy (IET) is a light-touch form of energy healing that can be described as soft, deep, and spacious. IET ‘gets the issues out of the tissues’ and is a mind-body-spirit practice that combines energy channeling and specific pressure points where emotions and beliefs are stored. It is an energy healing modality that safely supports you in releasing traumas, stress, and limiting beliefs and patterns that can be affecting your health, energy level, and general well-being. It is safe and gentle and helps to instill balance on a cellular level. The IET practitioner applies light pressure to specific points on the body to release old patterns and infuse new healing energies. IET treatments are generally subtle or lightly perceived. The client may notice only slight sensations or changes in the body during the session. Although IET is subtle, the actual healing can be profound.
IET is recommended for ages 4+.
